Dark Fantasy
The target audience for my film noir opening is both males and females of ages 15 and above up to people of the age of 30. The reason to why this product is targeted at this particular audience is because Dark Fantasy has a complex narrative which could be quite hard to understand for people under the age of 15, also because it is a black and white movie a lot of people under that age wouldn't be interested in such a product.
Characters
These are the characters that appear in the film opening.
Scarlett
The name of the femme fatale is Scarlett.
She uses other people to do her dirty jobs so she keeps her hands clean. The film opening shows her influence on other people and what men would do for her also the amount of men she tricked into believing that she actually cares about them but really all she cares about is 'the sick stupid money'.

Jay Morano
Jay Morano is the middle man of the narrative who has fallen for Scarlett and is willing to do her dirty work for her in order to be with her. But little does he know one 'good deed' turns fatal for him.
The Anti Hero
Lokesh's character was the main protagonist, the anti-hero. The scene at the table where he is drinking tells us a lot about his character. We can infer a lot about his character and the background of the character. He is a troubled person and clearly isn't wanting to hide it, as it sometimes interferes with his instincts and his line of work.
Props/CostumesThese are the props and costumes that we have used to help us with the connotations of film noir.

Weekly Blog
Week 0 - This week was the week that we started working on the whole of the film Noir project. To start off we got assigned our groups and then we started doing basic planning .
Week 1 - The planning stages. This week in me and my group started to stitch together our ideas for what film we are going to do. We decided on the group roles, i have now become one of the 'editor's' in the group and the femme fatale actress.I had to buy a costume for my character.
Week 2 - Media Suite. This was the first week that we started to get in to the real production of the film, we had now decided everybody's roles, therefore in the 3 lessons we had this week we decided who would be acting and we also decided what types of camera shots we would want to use in our Film Noir scene opening. The first time i got a real view of the Green Room when it is being used and saw the props that were available to me.
Week 3 - Media Suite. This week i had to become femme fatale. We have started filming scenes from the opening and we have filmed some of my scenes; starting with me driving a car, there are shots from different angles. We had filmed scenes of the protagonist poisoning my 'husband' and taking a briefcase full of money for me.
Week 4 - This week i have learned how to use Final Cut. B-Blade=Cutting tool.We have put our work on to the macs even though we still have to film some of our scenes.Me & Lokesh who are the editors started to play around with Final Cut to get used to using it as well will have to edit the whole movie when it is finished. This was in the double lesson. On friday when we had our single lesson me&Avinash-the progtagonist- filmed the last scene but we will have to do it more than once to get it right also i had to use props such as the gun to shot the protagonist. We have used the green room to create a scene of me laying on the -car- & have got all of our sound ready.
Week 5 - Editing- This week i have started to put my film together and edit it to see what it would look like in black&white also i have started to cut certain parts filmed to create all of the clips to become at around 2mins.I have deleted all of the sounds from the clips and started to arrange them in the right order also on Friday i have learner how to use the green screen to add it into a real clip and how to use different effects from Final Cut Pro to change my movie and make it look more noir.On tuesday - 18th i have filmed my last scene in the movie with Avinash who i sthe protagonist. The scene is of him passing me a breifcase full of money and after he walks off i shoot him.
Week 6- This week i have continued with editing the film in Final Cut Pro and found soundtracks for the flm.I have added the voice over for certain parts of the opening with the help of Amie the sound supervisor. In the edn of the week we now have sound added to our opening, this helps the opening be more clear an easier to understand because of the sound effects adds t the tension that the actors create.
Week 7 - This week i have continued to edit my film opening with the help of the sound supervisor;Amie & the producer;Alisha. We have got Avinash to film more parts of him acting so we can add it to the opening, also i have thought what i have to do next to help this be faster and i stayed in at lunchtime to continue editing and adding certain effects to certain scenes to make everything look real.
Week 8- This week we have finished filming everything and put all our films in the right order adding the openings and the Warner bros logo at the beginning. Also we have added voice over in the right places and made our story make more sense by adding certain clips and editing some scenes so that it would be easier for people to understand what the opening is about. At the end of this week i have realised that i will need to come at lunch for some time just to adjust certain parts/effects to make the opening better.
Week 9-This week i have continued with editing, the whole team has watched the film opening and decided what we sound change to improve it and added more transitions to cause certain scenes to fade from one another and to add more effect to the clip.On friday we went around the class to look at other peoples opening and other people looked at my groups and gave us feedback. As a group we have decided that we need to re-do some voice overs and improve our car scene. We should have a finished opening by friday next week.
Week 10-This week we have asked some people to watch our opening and to see what they think we need to improve and out of all the comment we had we have to improve our car scene which i have done and also to improve our voice over which lokesh and avinash are working on.Mr Williamson gave us 90 more minutes to finish our movie but we can come in whenever we want until tuesday because that is our deadline and when we are uploading our opening to youtube. All i have left to do is get the picture of femme fatale and upload it to weebly, aslo give it to my team so they can upload it onto their weebly site.
Week 11_This week i have improved some of the edited scenes to make them more effective. I have done this by changing the contrast and brightness of certains scenes, green screen pictures and edited some of the transitions.I have also changed the voice over because Lokesh and Avinash recorded it again so it wouldn't sound like 'Batman etc..' .Our teacher has given us one more lesson to finish this project/film opening. On friday we finished editing, watched over our clip and seen what there is needed for improvement, afterwards we have decided what we have to do to finish off and make our opening better.
Evaluation
When we first became a group we got told that we had to create an idea for film noir.I along with my group each came up with an idea that we shared with the whole group. When we shared our ideas we decided that we would pick Alisha's idea but that we would add aspects from everyones from the group. I have decided to add 'love' and 'betray' into the story because it would show how femme fatale could use herself to pretend that she loves somebody but to actually just get what she wants by manipulating the person into thinking that they mean something to her and then showing her real self at the end and betraying them knowing that the main story was about a woman who wanted money which is what all of the characters in the film are afte I have helped my group decide the shots that there would be used in filming every scene and the way the characters were placed in the setting.Avinash and Lokesh who were the camera people have used directing skills and cinematography. As an editor I had to edit everything filmed ;i had to edit all scenes by changing the angle of the clips and editing them so that they could be more effective, not only but i have also added the voice over and sound effects. I had to edit the soundtrack to make the story more effective. I have done this by muting the soundtrack at certain times in the opening and when the voice over was going on so it would be easy to understand what is being said and not only but to also add an effect to certain parts such as when the gun shot is heard the music fades out to that moment and after the shot it fades in .This was done to add more effect to the opening. Most of our filmed clips were in the green screen studio. This helped me edit alot of the scenes to add an 1940's America look. I had to edit the green screened clips and add certain videos or picture to the background and to change the contract; brightness and effects to make it look like it was filmed in America at that period of time. We have added double vision; and other effects to certain clips to make them more effective.I was able to do all of these by using Final Cut Pro on the iMacs. By using this software i have learned new skills in terms of editing and how to make a film not only look good but make it suitable for its genre.
The purpose of the opening sequence is to draw an audience into text. In my own film opening i have used the enigma code to make the audience ask themselves questions that would not be answered immediately but throughout the movie. This would draw my audience into text making them wonder why certain characters are doing certain things and what effect the things they are doing will have on the storyline. This would help build tension until the questions are answered.
Film Noir is French for 'Black Film'. It is about a valourous object that everybody in the film is after. The characters are femme fatale ; a female who uses herself to get what she wants and by using herself. A doomed hero who tries to solve the case but end up dead and a protagonist who tries to solve the case.Throughout the movie there is only one thing that keeps the movie going and that is the money because every character is after the money as they want it for themselves. This is the object in the film that starts the conflicts and helps create tension because you don't know for sure who will have the money at the end.
My film noir is named Dark Fantasy. The characters in the film are Scarlett; who is played by me. Femme fatale; a woman who is hungry for money and acts like she is innocent and all she wants is love but what she really wants is the most valuable object in the film and she doesn't care about anything else rather than herself. The protagonist Al; who is played by Lokesh. The protagonist is the character that starts with the money but he is still lonely . The doomed hero ;Jay is played by Avinash, he is Scarlett's new lover and he does anything she tells;wants him to do as he poisons Al at the start of the film opening to get the money for her. These characters fit the noir character types because of the way they look; their actions and what they are after. they are introduced throughout the opening of the film as they are teh main characters.
Tension;Drama;Atmosphere were all create by using the 4 micro elements in the film. Mise-en-scene, camerawork, sound and editing. I have created tension in the opening by editing the sound and effects that were added to the opening so that it would be suitable for the content and also it would create the right atmosphere. The director and producer filmed all of the scenes in the opening but they have chosen the settings, camera angles and miss-en-scene to create the look of America 1940's.I as the editor have helped with creating the right look and using the right lighting for certain scenes. i have edited the contrast&brightness of the scene to make them look more realistic and create the appropriate atmosphere. We have used Enigma codes to make the audience ask themselves questions that will make them want to watch the movie until the end to find out the answers. The institution that would make this type of film is Warner brothers because they have made other film noir's in the past. The target audience is 15 and over. The reason i have picked teenagers and 15 over is because teens under 15 wouldn't really be interested into watching a black and white movie and they wouldn't really know much about the genre. Also it would be directed at the male gender because females aren't really interested into watching black and white detective movies as they would not find the film interesting.
